Install Pipit
- Download the DMG from GitHub Releases
- Mount the DMG by double-clicking it
- Drag Pipit.app to your Applications folder
- Open Pipit and follow the onboarding wizard to grant permissions
On first launch, macOS may show a security warning. Right-click Pipit and select Open to proceed.
Required Permissions
Pipit needs two macOS permissions to work:
Microphone Access
Required for Pipit to hear your voice.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Select Microphone
- Enable Pipit
Accessibility Permission
Required for global hotkeys and text insertion into any app.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Select Accessibility
- Enable Pipit
If you grant Accessibility permission during onboarding, Pipit will automatically restart to activate hotkeys. If you grant it later in System Settings, you may need to restart manually.
Automatic Updates
Pipit updates automatically via Sparkle. Check for updates: click the Pipit menu bar icon → Check for Updates.
