Pipit stores your transcriptions locally using SwiftData, giving you quick access to past dictations from the menu bar popover.

Viewing History

Click the Pipit menu bar icon and switch to the History tab. Two views are available:

Search and Filter

Quickly find past transcriptions using the search bar. Results filter in real-time as you type.

Quick Actions

Each history item supports:
  • Copy — Copy text to clipboard (Cmd+C)
  • Type — Insert at cursor in active app (Cmd+T)
  • Pin — Keep important items from being pruned (Transcriptions only)
  • Delete — Remove individual entries

Keyboard Shortcuts

Navigate history efficiently:

Pruning Limits

To keep things fast, history is automatically pruned:
  • 200 clipboard items maximum
  • 500 transcriptions maximum
  • Pinned transcriptions are never pruned
Pin transcriptions you need to reference frequently to keep them safe from pruning.

Accessibility

An orange banner appears in the history view if Accessibility permission is missing, with a quick link to grant it.
