What is Pipit? A voice-to-text dictation app for macOS with on-device speech recognition and optional AI enhancement. Is Pipit free? Currently in beta and free. Pricing for the full release will be announced later. Does Pipit work offline? Yes. The core speech recognition is fully offline. AI post-processing requires internet but is optional. What languages are supported? 25+ European languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, and more. Is my voice data sent to the cloud? No. Audio is processed entirely on your Mac. Only if you enable AI, the transcribed text is sent to your chosen provider. Where are API keys stored? Securely in macOS Keychain.Permissions
Why Accessibility permission? Required for global hotkeys and text insertion into any app. Why Microphone permission? Required to record your voice for transcription.Troubleshooting
