Default Hotkey

Pipit’s default hotkey is the Right Option key. It supports both gestures without a separate mode setting:
  • Tap to toggle: Tap once to start recording and tap again to stop.
  • Hold to talk: Hold the hotkey while speaking and release it to stop.

Open Pipit

Open Pipit’s main window

Navigate

Go to Home and find Global Hotkey

Record

Click the hotkey display and press your desired key

Supported Hotkeys

Pipit supports single modifier keys as hotkeys:
  • Option (left or right)
  • Control (left or right)
  • Shift (left or right)
  • Command (left or right)
  • Fn/Globe key
For a short dictation, hold and release. For a longer dictation, tap once to start and tap again to finish.
Hotkeys require Accessibility permission. Enable it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
