Draft Writes it for you, from your screen. Instead of typing what you say, Pipit writes what you ask for. Say “reply that Friday works” in a chat, and Draft writes the reply, using the conversation on your screen so it fits.

What Draft needs

  • AI cleanup, set up and on. Draft uses the AI provider you chose under Enhance > Runs on. See AI cleanup.
  • Screen reading. On the Dictionary tab, under Settings, turn on Read names on screen and then Use on-device OCR.
  • Screen Recording permission. Pipit asks for it when you turn on Use on-device OCR. See Permissions.
If screen access is missing after you set a Draft key, Home shows “Draft is waiting for screen access”. Click its button (Turn on screen reading or Allow Screen Recording) to fix it in one step.

Set a Draft key

Draft has its own key, and it has none until you set one.
1

Open Shortcuts

In Pipit, go to Home > Shortcuts. If you see Enhance and Draft with Set up AI, set up AI cleanup first.
2

Pick the Draft row

Next to Draft, click Set shortcut.
3

Press a key

Press the key you want, such as Right Option. It can’t be the same as your Dictate key.
Setting a Draft key also changes your Dictate key: it now pastes your words without AI cleanup. See Shortcuts.

Write something

  1. Click where the text should go, like a reply box.
  2. Hold your Draft key and say what you want written, for example “reply that Friday works”.
  3. Let go. Pipit writes it and pastes it in.
While you hold the key, a pencil shows next to the recording dot.

Rewrite selected text

Select some text first, then hold your Draft key and say what to change, like “make this friendlier”. Draft replaces the selection with the new version.

Revise, undo, or copy

After a Draft lands, a strip appears with these options: In some apps Pipit can’t edit the text in place, so the strip offers only Copy.

If Draft doesn’t work

If the AI provider itself fails, you’ll see the same messages as for AI cleanup. See AI cleanup.

Privacy

When you use Draft, Pipit sends text to the AI provider you chose: what you asked for, text from the window you’re writing in (like the message you’re replying to), and any text you selected. Your audio stays on your Mac. Pipit doesn’t read password or sign-in screens. See Privacy.
