# Menu Bar Popover

> Quick access to Pipit from your menu bar

The Pipit menu bar icon gives you instant access to dictation, clipboard history, and past transcriptions without opening the main app window.

## Accessing the Popover

Click the Pipit icon in your macOS menu bar (top-right, near the clock). Option-click to open the main app window with settings.

## Quick Actions

The menu bar popover provides immediate access to core features:

| Action                   | Description                    |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------ |
| **Start/Stop Recording** | Quick dictation toggle         |
| **Open Pipit**           | Bring the main window to front |
| **Check for Updates**    | Sparkle update check           |
| **Quit**                 | Exit Pipit completely          |

## Permission Indicator

The menu bar icon shows an orange tint when Accessibility permission is missing. Grant permission in **System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility** to restore full functionality.

## Always Available

Pipit runs entirely from the menu bar. The main window can stay closed while you dictate, access history, and manage clipboard content — perfect for a streamlined workflow.
