# Hotkeys

> Configure global hotkeys for Pipit

## Default Hotkey

Pipit's default hotkey is the **Right Option key**. Press and hold to record, release to transcribe.

## Changing the Hotkey

  <Step title="Open Settings">Click the Pipit menu bar icon then Settings</Step>
  <Step title="Navigate">Go to the Hotkeys tab</Step>
  <Step title="Record">Click the hotkey display, press your desired key, then Save</Step>

## Supported Hotkeys

Pipit supports single modifier keys: Option, Control, Shift, Command, and Fn.

  Hold to record, release to stop and transcribe.

  Hotkeys require **Accessibility permission**. Enable it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
